Nordic functionality

How to design a new 65-square-meter apartment, incorporating half of the furniture as older Ikea pieces? Continuing the Scandinavian approach. It's a style I particularly enjoy - a blend of apparent casualness with stylistic precision; the greater the difference in the price and quality of furniture, the better.

The apartment has been customized to suit the needs of a mature couple, with a significant portion of the furnishings coming from the owners' previous residence. Items such as the hallway and bathroom furniture, the sofa, armchair, TV cabinet, and dining table are all familiar and beloved Ikea models. The main challenge was to complement these pieces in a way that would capture the essence of Scandinavian simplicity, lightness, and a touch of nonchalance. In the living room, there's room for an extendable table, with iconic Fameg chairs seamlessly blending into the Nordic aesthetic. Vintage lamps, a Moroccan rug, and artworks by Olga Szczechowska add to the ambiance. The green kitchen is accented with colorful tiles and a poster by Gosia Herby. The vibrant bathroom includes a foldable shower for easy access. Overall, the entire apartment exudes coziness and embraces the Danish philosophy of hygge, fostering a positive outlook on life.
